Remarkable influences, some may say. Though, familiar as we are with Solefald’s and Pan.Thy.Monium’s use of saxophone, it’s not that Hesperus Dimension’s use is original. It’s more that the band’s music is rather cold industrial extreme music, perhaps even black metal, and the saxophone is wicked in this context. But it works and definitely adds to the insanity.
“The Cyclothmyic Panopticon” is a rollercoaster of a mini-CD. You may think you know what lurks in the corner, but I tell you no, because you do not know at all. For a full-length this could be rather tiresome, but “…Panopticon” is a teaser of what must come some time in the future.
By all means, bands like Mysticum and Dødheimsgard (of late) have done similar things previously and Blacklodge’s “SolarKult” is my personal favourite. But with loads of effects, industrialism, harshness and a will to power, there’s hopefully something conquering showing up next.
No points extra for the obvious DHG rip-off in “23 Hands”, despite that it is a really cool song.
